This hand colored lithograph of whale boats hunting a right whale was created by Currier and Ives sometime in the second half of the 19th century. It shows the whaleship in the background, with smoke rising from the tryworks as the crew processes whales already caught. In the foreground a small whaleboat is getting close to a right whale, preparing to thrust the lance into it, to kill it.
