Laura was interested in mounting and classifying sea mosses that she collected from the local waters around the Vineyard. After 1912, Laura opened a small antique shop and tea room at her home nicknamed "The Bungalow" on South Summer Street in Edgartown. Here she sold greeting cards, picture frames, albums, and books of these sea mosses.
