A term referring to several dolphin breeds known for jumping above the water. Laura Jernegan mentions "jumper" in her journal. She was most likely referring to the small spinner dolphin (Stenella longirostris) which is found in the Pacific, near Hawaii and other tropical locations. These dolphins are famous for their above-water acrobatics and tend to live in very large groups.
