Many people were involved in the building of a whaling vessel. Timbers were shaped and fit into place. Holes were bored or chiseled to fit bungs or the ends of others boards. This image is from a 19th century banknote. In the 19th century, banks printed their own banknotes, or paper money, in various denominations. Printed from steel engravings, they often featured images of important industries to the nation or region.
